Black Screen On Startup

Modified on Fri, 11 Nov, 2022 at 11:30 AM

Oh No!

You turn on your computer and wait to get to the login screen but it never comes. That's okay this happens sometimes. More often than not this happens because your computer got turned off in the middle of an update.

What happens then is that the computer when you turn it on is working on that update behind the scenes and not giving you a picture.

SOLUTION: Be patient, don't turn off the computer or shut the screen. 99% of the time if you let the computer sit for 10-20 minutes it will eventually bring the screen back and finish the update. Then you can continue using the computer.

But.....

If after 20 minutes your screen does not come on it could be another issue. At this point please hold the power button on the right side of the screen for 20-30 seconds and then press the power button again and let the computer turn back on. If you see the Manufactures's logo (See images below) that means that the screen is still functioning well. Simply wait another 20 minutes and see if it then gets to a normal log.

If when you reboot the computer you do not see the logos, then that means your screen may be damaged. Please contact us at the tech department or if you are at the HS/MS bring your device down to the tech bar during our hours there.
