Schoology offers a couple of ways for parents to stay informed about their child's activity. The best method to get a summary of what's happening on the student activity page is to set up a Parent Email Digest.
Here's a step-by-step guide to set up notifications for your child's activity:
Log in to your Schoology parent account. Make sure you are in your personal parent account, not your child's.
Switch to your child's view. Click the down arrow in the top right corner next to your name. From the drop-down menu, select your child's name.
Go to Notification Settings for your child. With your child's name selected, click the down arrow again and choose Settings. Then, click the Notifications tab.
Turn on the Parent Email Digest. You should see an option for an "Email Summary" or "Parent Email Digest." Toggle this to On.
Customize your email frequency. You can choose to receive this email summary daily or weekly. If you choose daily, you can set a specific time of day to receive it. If you choose weekly, you can select the day of the week.1
Set up overdue assignment notifications (optional). On the same page, you can also turn on "Overdue Submissions Email." This will send you a separate email notification when your child has an assignment that has passed its due date.
Save your changes. Be sure to click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page to apply your new settings.
Important Notes:
If you have more than one child using Schoology, you will need to repeat this process for each child.
The Parent Email Digest will include a summary of your child's recent activity, such as new grades, attendance, and updates or posts they have made.16
If you're not receiving the emails, double-check your account settings to ensure your email address is verified and that Schoology emails are not going to your spam folder.
While Schoology has a general "Notifications" area (the bell icon), that is typically for your own activity on the platform (e.g., messages sent to you), not for your child's activity. To get notifications about your child, you must go through the specific Parent Email Digest settings within their account view.
