Adding printers is a necessity for staff to be able to print in the buildings. Using the steps below you can add a printer to your non-district-owned device. These same steps will be used when you want to add the Secureprint to be able to print to all copiers or if you want to print to a specific printer.
Follow the steps below to add the printer to your device.
1.) Press the Start button on your device and then type "Run" into the search bar and press enter then to launch the Run program.
2.) In the run program there will be a blank field. You will need to type into this field: \\printserv (If you want to print to Secureprint, which allows printing to all the copiers with the use of your badge you will instead type \\printsrv )
a.) Make sure to include the \\ and not use // as that can be a common mistake
b.) hit enter after you are done typing
3.) Because this is not a district-owned device and is not on the domain you will need to enter your credentials to access the printers.
4.) The first box that pops up will ask you for your password, DO NOT enter your password first. By default, the computer will use the wrong domain since this computer does not belong to the school. Instead, choose "More Choices" in the bottom right of the box
5.) Nex, in the drop-down of accounts given choose the option "Use a Different Account".
6.) Then type in your username in the top field. Now this will be put a bit differently than usual. You will need to prefix your standard username (That's the stuff that comes before the @lmsdoh.org on your email) with the wording lmsd\
a.) You must use this or it will not work and you will need to make sure to use a \, not a / after the lmsd as this is a common mistake.
7.) Then enter your email password.
8.) Next, you will need to make sure to choose "Remember Me" so that way after a reboot the device will still be able to talk to the printer.
3.) A new window will appear and you will be able then to see all the printers available in the district
4.) Find the printer that you need to add
a.) Usually these are listed by Building and either room number or occupation. For example, a printer in High School Room 100 would be called HS_100
b.) If you need to add the Secureprint printer (To be able to print to all copiers) you will choose the printer called Secureprint
5.) Double-click on the printer you want and it will start to download and install the printer on the device for you.
6.) Once it shows you the current print queue for the printer it will be installed and ready to use.
a.) Most programs will not show the new printer until they are closed and then reopen again to see the new printer connection.
