1. Verify they have the LockDown Browser already installed on their device!
We will automatically push the browser to all devices. However, it's possible for many reasons for their device to never get installed.
To check to see if the browser is already installed. Look for the LockDown Browser Icon on the student's desktop.
2. No icon? Here's how to manually install.
If the student does not have the browser they will need to navigate to Software Center.
3. Click on Respondus Lockdown Browser in Software Center.
4. Choose install.
Once "Install" is selected the program will take 1-2 minutes to download and install. If the install says failed. Please have the student restart their computer and try again.
5. Now, close all programs except Chrome.
Programs running in the background will stop the Browser from running. Make sure that students close (Not minimize) all programs they have open except for Chrome.
6. Next, have the students navigate to your course in Schoology.
7. Choose a Test or Assessment you have enabled the LockDown Browser on.
# Schoology
8. Choose "Start New Attempt".
Important: Do not choose to "Download LockDown Browser". The students already should have the program installed from the steps above. This download link will not work for them.
The students will be given a box that says "Open LockDown Browser" you will need to have them choose this.
EXTRA TIP: if they choose the box that says "Always allow lmsd.schoology.com to open file links of this type" they will not be prompted in the future to allow the Browser to launch.
9. Students can then take the assessment or test.
10. Once the Test is over.
Once the student finishes the Test or Assessment, the browser will close. It will then take them back to the Schoology page where they started the test. It will look like the page is loading but it is not. They can navigate at this point away from the page and continue on with other work.
